Welcome to Dektor, the mobile app dedicated to metal detecting enthusiasts. This Privacy Policy aims to explain what data we collect, how we use it, and what your rights are. By using the Dektor app, you agree to the terms of this policy.

Collection and use of information

The data we may collect includes:

Email address
First and last name
Photos and descriptions of discoveries
Device location when reporting a discovery

Users can set discoveries as public or private. Public ones are visible to the entire community, while private ones are only visible to the author.

If you enable the site proximity check or detection session tracking feature, the app may collect location data in the background, even when the app is closed.

Automatically collected technical data

To improve the service and diagnose technical issues, we automatically collect certain data, such as:

Device type and operating system
App version
Error logs (minimal, no personal data)

Archaeological site data

Dektor integrates public data from the official source https://ran.cimec.ro, updated daily. This data may contain errors or update delays. Users can submit correction or completion suggestions.

Data storage and retention

Data is stored on servers located in the European Union. Your discoveries remain saved until you decide to delete them. Technical logs are kept for a limited period (usually 30 days) and then automatically deleted.

Data security

Third-party services and donations

Dektor does not share your data with third parties for marketing or advertising. If you choose to make a donation through Buy Me a Coffee, payment processing is handled by that platform, and we do not store your financial data.

Limitation of liability

Although we strive to keep the data correct and up to date, errors may occur. Dektor and its developers cannot be held liable for:

Accidental access to protected sites due to incorrect data
Inaccuracy of GPS data provided by your device

Use by minors

Dektor is not intended for users under 16 years of age without the consent of parents or legal guardians.

Changes

The policy may be updated periodically. Changes will be posted on this page, and if they are significant, we will display a visible notification.
